We meet every Wednesday and Thursday in the month from 2.00-5.00pm at the Priory Bowling Club.
The aim is to introduce members to the skills of lawn bowling in a friendly outdoor summer environment (at the Priory Bowling Club) that is enjoyable and fulfilling – providing gentle exercise over a 2hr session. Coaching on techniques, game strategy and order of play is provided as well as the provision of bowling equipment. From May to end of August, up to 5 rinks are available for both practice and competitive team play.
Two weekly sessions on the Wednesday and Thursday afternoons are scheduled, and which can accommodate up to 20 members per session and provide the flexibility for members to mix between the days if they wish.
Depending on overall numbers, the aim is to keep costs within the standard U3A rates per session.
There is no stipulation on dress code (informal summer clothing is fine), but members must wear shoes that have soft, flat and flexible soles that do not damage the green.
Both beginners and those who wish to improve their game up to club competitive standard are most welcome.
