Basic Computer Skills

We meet on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from 14.00-16.00 at the Cube.

This new group will initially run for 7 sessions, twice a month on Friday afternoons, starting on 11th January 2019. There are limited spaces, and a reserve list is in operation in case people drop out.

This is meant as a hands-on course, so hopefully most members will be able to bring along portable devices – laptop, iPad, tablet, or even smartphone. We will attempt to cover all types – Windows, Apple Mac, iOS, Android, possibly Chromebook – tailored to those attending. Top topics so far are email issues, connecting to the internet and using the web (Google), different computer system quirks (copy/paste, short cuts, symbols etc), security (e.g. passwords, privacy), tasks and reminders on smartphones, switching to tablets and popular apps such as taking photos. The actual issues covered will be guided by the needs of the group. Sharing of existing knowledge and experiences is encouraged.

It is possible that there will be a ‘drop-in’ workshop or two at some point.
