We meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday from 14.00-16.00 at St Andrews Church Hall.
This group is a social group with a purpose, for beginners and those who already enjoy the challenge of cryptic crosswords!
Cryptic crosswords are a great way to keep the mind active: the clues follow rules and conventions which can be learnt.
We work our way through three crosswords during the session. The first is usually that day’s Quiptic Crossword from the Guardian webpage: then over a refreshing cup of tea everyone is allocated one answer from a completed crossword to discuss and deconstruct and share with the group; then we all try to do another cryptic crossword.
We share answers at intervals so that eventually everyone has completed both new puzzles and understood the intricacies of the clues.
