We meet on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month from 14.00-16.00 at the Cube.
The intention is that the Drama group will not put members under any pressure to learn lines or perform to an audience but will provide an opportunity to perform or direct selected scenes from a wide range of plays where the age, gender and experience of the participants will neither affect the choice of role they perform nor their approach to directing. Trying out ways to see how texts can work in performance, provides the main focus of the sessions.
September – December 2016
The session starts with having fun and trying out a range of performance skills such as use of voice, accent, mime etc. The main session will then focus on an introduction to a range of play texts where we will try out a selection of scenes from the plays and consider how they would work in performance. The intention is that the first 7 sessions will consider a range of plays written and performed over the past 400 years leading up to ‘modern drama’ including European and American plays.
By the end of the first ‘term’, the group will be asked to select periods of drama and plays that they’d like to work on in the 2017 sessions.
January – April 2017
Work on selected scenes from chosen texts/complete plays.
April – June 2017
If the group wants to continue for longer or expresses a wish to perform scenes to an audience, we may consider scheduling in sessions for rehearsals and a subsequent performance date later in 2017.
