Day 2, Locality 2
2) Palaichori, F914 (E903) road west of village; long roadcut.

The westerly end of the roadcut shows a section in the sheeted dyke complex. Here the exposure is almost 100% sheeted dykes, with only a few thin screens. The light-coloured dykes are generally fine grained, and many show consistent, one sided chilled margins. This has been used to identify the direction of the ridge axis (Kidd and Cann, 1974), although the evidence is not always unequivocal. Many of the dykes show multiple intrusion, and some are seen to cross-cut. Generally the dykes have very steep dip, N-S strike, and show alteration, with the appearance of chlorite and actinolite.
