Day 3, The Madari Ridge
From the road there is a steep, winding section where height is gained. Along the route many small signs have been placed by the Forestry Department, pointing out objects of botanical and geological interest.

Depending on the time of year, if you keep your eyes open then several shy sub-alpine flowers can be spotted. This autumn crocus was taken in September. Note the angular green pebbles - these are of epidosite, a relatively common rock in the western part of the Solea graben and which demonstrates the large amount of hydrothermal circulation that this area must once have experienced.

All around Adelfoi the slopes drop down deeply towards the valleys and, as we ascend, the panorama to the North expands.
