Day 4, Locality 3

3) F111 road 1 km (approx) north of Pano Lefkara; roadcut.

This long roadside exposure shows pillow lavas extensively brecciated. These are the crustal sequence pillow lavas that have been erupted within the transform fault zone, and brecciated/fractured by fault movement.

Broken and fragmented pillows can be seen, surrounded by finer volcaniclastic infill. Several fault planes can also be seen, developed in this transtensional environment. The fault planes generally trend approximately E-W, and are often mineralised, with white calcite veining.
