Day 6, Locality 2
2) F122 road to Pyrgos, 1 km from Al, west of Moni; low hillside cliff exposures.
The sections exposed show grey to pale brown clays with large blocks of coarse clastic material embedded in them. The blocks here are generally coarse to medium grained sandstones, but other lithologies can also be found.
The clays are Kannaviou Formation sediments, but the blocks represent semi-allochthonous input. These olistoliths are generally of Mamonia lithologies, and are again fault-scarp breccias related to the Troodos microplate rotation and juxtaposing of the Troodos and Mamonia Terranes in the Maastrichtian. This is more Moni Formation, Moni melange.

The olistoliths here are of moderate size, but the exposures at Aphrodite’s rock, seen earlier on the trip, show the potential size range for these olistoliths.
