Landscapes Subgroup

The LAGs Subgroup (Landscape Appreciation Group) currently has 28 members who explore local interesting geological and landscape features in the area.

Field trips, which often involve a walk of up to 5 miles, are organised every month throughout the year. They are led by our member geologists Richard Edwards, John Payne and Moira Jenkins assisted by Janet Parry and Alan Hughes.

Future walks we have coming up this summer are a walk around the Mortimer Forest near Ludlow in June led by John Payne, and a walk up Caer Caradoc near Church Stretton in July led by Alan Hughes.

We have had five walks so far this year. In January 16 members looked at the geology of Frith Wood near Wellington Heath, in February 15 members walked around Longdon looking at the Triassic landscape of the area, in  March 15 members walked on the Bromyard Downs studying the Silurian and Devonian geology of the Bromyard Plateau, in April 11 members walked in the Soudley Valley in the Forest of Dean looking at the interesting geology and the industrial heritage of the area, and our last walk in May was up Coppet Hill in the Wye Valley.
